We surveyed choir members last April. A large majority promised to support a social event in the autumn,and wanted to be able to bring partners etc. We had some difficulty finding a venue that was reasonably priced and available, but are pleased with what we have found.

The plan is for an informal social evening, with buffet. Tickets (£15 per person including food and a drink) will be available from September at rehearsals. More info then and at AGM

Important-Changes of REHEARSAL VENUE FOR NEXT TERM

TO ALL CHOIR MEMBERS:
We have had to change the venue for our rehearsals for next term.

REHEARSALS WILL BE IN ST. CUTHBERTS, (not in Edinburgh Academy) from now until December

Two weeks ago (!) Edinburgh Academy advised us that the hall would not be available to us for rehearsals until the end of October,because it is being refurbished.
They offered the Robertson room as an alternative.The committee did not feel this would be satisfactory. Apart from its normal limitations, we have an AGM scheduled for 14 September; and (most important) an open rehearsal, which we hope will attract new singers, on 21st September.
After considering a number of alternatives, and checking out availability, Committee has decided to move the rehearsals for next term to St Cuthberts. Due to the inevitable uncertainty of any refurbishment programme, we have also decided it would be better to use St Cuthberts for the whole term, and then review the position.
I would have preferred to be able to consult you all about this problem and preferred options but there was not time. I do hope this will not cause undue inconvenience to anyone. Do let me know if there are particular problems - we may be able to help.
There will be further opportunity to discuss and clarify any issues at the AGM on 14 September
